METRIC

Released in 2009, Fantasies was shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, an annual award based on artistic merit, regardless of genre or sales. The album includes the singles “Gimme Sympathy,” “Help I’m Alive,” “Sick Muse” and “Gold Guns Girls.”

Rolling Stone said, “...an electrophile slickness, not to mention a set of catchy songs.”

Alternative Press said, “...one of those bands who never seem to go wrong...each album they release is well-crafted and undeniably likeable.”

Formed in Toronto in 1998, Metric consists of Emily Haines (vocals, synthesizer), James Shaw (guitar, vocals), Josh Winstead (bass, vocals) and Joules Scott-Key (drums). The band released their critically-acclaimed debut Grow Up and Blow Away in 2001 and went on to release 2003’s breakthrough GOLD-selling album Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? and 2005’s PLATINUM-selling Live It Out.

Hamilton’s pop-rock band Arkells are out in support of their first full-length release Jackson Square (Dine Alone Records, 2008). The album includes the singles “Oh, The Boss Is Coming,” “Pullin Punches” and “Ballad of Hugo Chavez.” Since the release of their debut EP Deadlines (2007), the five-piece has shared the stage with Bedouin Soundclash, Matt Mays & El Torpedo, Sam Roberts Band, Constantines, Alexisonfire, City and Colour and the Black Crowes.
