Ryan Cook is an award-winning artist from Nova Scotia who has performed with country music greats Dwight Yoakham, Roseanne Cash, Sammy Kershaw and Travis Tritt. His latest project The Valley Singers combines the classic thumb-picking guitar style of Chet Atkins with rich harmonies inspired by American Jazz/Pop music from the 1940’s and 50’s.
Defying the standard in cowboy culture, Ryan’s roots range as far away as punk rock and his progressive take on country music has been called refreshing by critics. His debut LP Hot Times and his sophomore album Peaks & Valleys earned him album of the year awards at the Nova Scotia Music Awards. His latest album, Wrestling with Demons features L.P. Cormier, John Campbell, Kayton Roberts and Roger Carroll. Ryan Cook has earned three Music Nova Scotia awards and fifteen ECMA/MNS nominations, while performing over 800 concerts around the world since 2007.
On Saturday, June 6th Ryan Cook will be back at the Marigold Cultural Centre this time performing his "Country, Folk & Classics of the 50's” with his Valley Singers. Show time is 7:30 PM and tickets are $34.
Together to perform an original arrangement of Ryan Cook songs like Pretty Sure, Gaspereau Valley and Lulu Lemon, The Valley Singers also pay tribute to hillbilly pioneers Hank Williams, Merle Travis, and Doc Watson.
