Whether it is her haunting bluegrass folk vocals or her catchy re-inventions of traditional melodies, Fleur Mainville joyously rewrites the book on what fiddle music can be. Her latest release ‘My Rare One’ was nominated for a 2010 Music Nova Scotia Award. With four recordings under her belt, she shows no signs of slowing down. She is a beloved teacher, performer, radio personality and Pictou County community member, and is one of the most influential fiddlers on the east coast. www.fleurmainville.ca Gabrielle Papillon "Gabrielle Papillon has a hook that clasps a handle on the heart” (Katherine Kyte, Zouch Magazine). Residing between Montreal, where she recorded her third and most recent album, and New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Gabrielle is a singer/songwriter in the tradition of Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, and Laura Marling. By way of cars, busses, planes, and trains she began touring full time in June 2010 and has since completed three Cross-Canada tours. She has appeared at the In The Dead of Winter Music Festival, Halifax Pop Explosion, and the 23rd Annual Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, Tennessee. www.gabriellepapillon.com Jim Dorie Jim Dorie is a New Glasgow resident who plays acoustic roots/folk music that paints pictures and tells stories about interesting characters, friendships, working life, and relationships. His first recording, "Something Happened", was released in the spring of 2010. Recorded at "Wee House of Music Co." in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, the record features the talents of Dave Gunning, J.P. Cormier, Fleur Mainville and Jonathan MacDougall. He is currently completing his second album with produce J.P. Cormier. |
