The Doppler Effect Productions presents Heartwood by Laura Burke
Our organization is called the LEAD Project. We are a group of Mental Health First Voice individuals. We are planning to work toward countering stigma towards mental illnesses in our area. The funds raised from the our events at your centre will go to these issues of stigma, isolation issues, and transportation issues initially.
Also we will be beginning a peer support group for us where we will ask members of the community to come and speak and have discussion during the meeting time. We will be called the LEAD Group. LEAD is an acronym for Love, Empower, Achieve, and Dedicate all these words are accentuated by self and community with the LEAD Team Project.
The Heartwood play by Laura Burke is a one woman play written by Laura Burke chronicling her journey through Schizophrenia to Recovery and will begin our initiatives of the LEAD Project.
The Stand Up for Mental Health is a comedy troupe comprised of mental health first voice individuals who are hilariously funny and counter stigma with their routines about self, mental illnesses, and our communities. They should have a great evening in store for us.
